Abstract:
A retractable writing instrument 1 comprises a shaft tube 3, a knock cam 30, a rotating element 40 that is biased to the rear inside the shaft tube 3, and an outer cam 20 that is provided to an inner surface of the shaft tube 3. The knock cam 30 and the outer cam 20 are configured to rotate the rotating element 40 in cooperation with the rotating element 40. Switching is possible between a writing state in which the rotating element 40 is engaged with the outer cam 20 and a non-writing state in which the rotating element 40 is disengaged from the outer cam 20. When the knock cam 30 advances, the knock cam 30 pushes against the rotating element 40 and causes the rotating element 40 to advance and rotate, rotation of the rotating element 40 is restricted by contact with the knock cam 30 in the circumferential direction, the rotating element 40 engages with the outer cam 20, and the writing state is achieved.
