Abstract:

This roller bearing comprises: an inner member; an outer member; rollers (4, 5) interposed between the orbital planes of the inner member and outer member; and a retainer that retains the rollers (4, 5). The rollers (4, 5) each have a DLC membrane (9) on the outer circumferential surface thereof. The DLC membrane (9) has a three-layered structure consisting of, in order from the substrate side of the rollers (4, 5), a metal layer (9a), an intermediate layer (9b), which is a metal and DLC mixture layer, and a surface layer (9c). An indented section (16) in which a lubricant is retained is provided in the surface layer (9c) of the DLC membrane (9), and the indented section (16) includes a polymer-like carbon. The nanoindentation hardness of the indented section (16) is 13-16 GPa.
