Abstract:

Disclosed is a rolling bearing and a crown-shaped retainer which enable reliable reduction in rotation torque on the bearing without limiting the applications for the bearing and without changing grease or seals, etc. A plurality of balls (4) interposed between the inner and outer rim of a retainer (5) are retained by the retainer within the rolling bearing. The retainer (5) is crown shaped and has part of a surface on one side (7b) of a ring-shaped body open, whereby pockets (Pt) that hold balls within said pockets are disposed at a plurality of locations on the circumferential direction of a ring-shaped body (7). The rolling bearing is provided with recessed grease-housing sections (GP) that store grease between adjacent pockets (Pt, Pt) in the circumferential direction on the ring-shaped body (7) and with a communication opening (Rh) that connects these recessed grease-housing sections (GP) and the pockets (Pt) and moves grease that has adhered to the balls (4) towards the recessed grease-housing sections (Pt) by the use of the relative movement between the balls and the retainer (5).
