Abstract:
This rotary compressor (1) is provided with a sealed housing (2) which forms an outer shell, an electric motor (5), a compression mechanism (6) which is housed in the sealed housing (2) and which compresses a refrigerant using the drive force from the electric motor (5), and a drive shaft (14) which links the electric motor (5) and the compression mechanism (6) and which rotates about a center axis that extends in the vertical direction. The compression mechanism (6) comprises an upper rotor (33) which is linked to the drive shaft (14) and which is housed in an upper cylinder chamber (31), an upper cylinder main body (34) which partitions the radially outside part of the upper cylinder chamber (31), and an upper bearing unit (35) which rotatably supports the drive shaft (14) and partitions the upper cylinder chamber (31) in the vertical direction. The refrigerant is compressed between the rotating upper rotor (33) and the upper cylinder main body (34), and the upper bearing unit (35) and the upper cylinder main body (34) are formed from a composite material comprising resin reinforced with reinforcing fibers.
