Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a rotary valve seal member with which a reliable seal can be obtained regardless of the type of movement of a valve body, by slidably holding the outer surface of the valve body, which rotates, pivots or slides. [Solution] A seal member (20) that is in sliding contact with the outer surface of a valve body, which is capable of rotating, pivoting or sliding inside a valve housing of a rotary valve, has a three-dimensional structure as a circular body having a cross-sectional shape comprising an oval-shaped section (22) and a rectangular-shaped section (21), and is integrally formed by an elastic material. The oval-shaped section (22) is positioned in the normal direction with respect to the outer surface of the valve body, and a bulging section of the leading edge of the oval-shaped section is made to protrude and press against the valve body outer surface, thereby sealing said section. The rectangular-shaped section (21) is buried when the oval-shaped portion is positioned in the normal direction with respect to the valve body outer surface, and is held inside a circular groove when the outside surface is in contact with a groove wall of the circular groove.
