Abstract:
Provided are: a rubber composition for tire treads which gives tires excellent in terms of wet performance, rolling performance, and dry driving stability performance; and a pneumatic tire obtained using the rubber composition for tire treads. The rubber composition for tire treads of the present invention comprises conjugated-diene-based rubbers comprising 30 mass% or more specific conjugated-diene-based rubber produced by a method for conjugated-diene-based-rubber production, the method including a specific step, and 20 mass% or more styrene/butadiene rubber, a given amount of silica, and a given amount of a silane coupling agent, wherein the specific conjugated-diene-based rubber has a content of aromatic vinyl monomer units of 20-80 mass%, includes conjugated-diene monomer units, which have a vinyl bond content of 20-80 mass%, and has a glass transition temperature and a weight-average molecular weight that are within given ranges.
