Title:
RULE OF INERTIA USED POWER TRANSMISSION GEAR FOR FUEL ECONOMIZER OF CUTOFF
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2000/076798
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method and a system for fuel saving by an automatic power transmission and cut-off device using the principle of inertia. This invention cuts off the connection between a power unit and wheels during driving of a vehicle and makes the vehicle continuously drive with the minimum operation of engine by speed of the driving vehicle and weight of a vehicle body without stop. That is, the vehicle continuously drives forward by the principle of inertia. The device is not operated (a gear is not in a neutral state) when an accelerator pedal is pressed, and the gear is in the neutral state by a switch when the pedal is released. The device stops that fuel is unnecessarily consumed by transmitting power to the wheels even in the neutral state of the gear. That is, even when the accelerator pedal is not pressed in the state that the vehicle is geared, an engine is rotated by the speed if the vehicle drives, thereby causing fuel consumption. This invention is to stop the unnecessary consumption of fuel. Prior arts use a fuel consumption method or other methods. However this invention is to run the vehicle the longdistance, maintaining the maximum kinetic energy with the minimum fuel by using the principle of inertia. Thereby, this invention prevents an unnecessarily continuous consumption of fuel, which is converted into kinetic energy by a mechanical operation.

Description:
RULE OF INERTIA USED POWER TRANSMISSION GEAR FOR FUEL ECONOMIZER OF CUTOFF BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a method and a system for fuel saving by an automatic power transmission and cut-off device using the principle of inertia, which are capable of saving fuel without waste.

More particularly, the present invention relates to a method, which utilizes maximally a vehicle's weight and speed by using the principle of inertia while maintaining the minimum fuel consumption as far as an engine does not stop during driving, and which stops power transmission to a vehicle body, thereby eliminating waste of fuel by the geared state of the vehicle when an accelerator pedal is not pressed.

In general. all vehicles manufactured until now are driven by a perfect fuel combustion method, however, various devices and systems driven by a mechanical method have been devised to put out the maximum power with a maximized fuel efficiency or devices and systems driven by electric power or hydrolysis, which are alternative energy, have been devised.

Certain of these known applications are illustrated in Korean Patent Publication Nos. 98-4663 and 98-5537. In the prior arts, disclosed are fuel economizers for vehicles that if rotational frequency of an engine is above a predetermined rotational frequency, idle signal of the engine is input. and if the rotational frequency of the engine is lower than the predetermined rotational frequency. a perfect fuel cut occurs.

Methods for saving fuel by maximizing fuel injection are disclosed in Korean

Patent Publication Nos. 98-64860 and 98-57899 and in Korean Utility Model Publication Nos. 98-17419 and 98-40287. Furthermore. methods and devices for saving fuel through activation of molecular structure by applying a magnet process to fuel or by mixing additives are disclosed in Korean Patent Publication Nos. 99-27234, 99-70414.2000-2780,2000-184 and 99-64889 and Korean Utility Model Publication No. 99-41102.

The above prior arts, which are to save fuel by applying magnetism to fuel. by mixing additives or by improving injection systems, enhanced efficiency to some extent in use of fuel but the efficiency was not noticeable.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is, therefore, an object of the present invention to provide a method and a system for fuel saving by an automatic power transmission and cut-off device using the principle of inertia, which maximize engine efficiency in spite of a fuel combustion method, differing from the prior arts that save fuel by a fuel injection method or by modifying engine structure.

To achieve the above object, the present invention provides a method for driving vehicles, transmitting power to a vehicle body and cutting off by using the principle of inertia. That is, in case of a manual transmission, maintenance of a neutral state of a gear and power transmission to the vehicle body are obtained by using a wire type and a hydraulic type in power transmission of a clutch connection speed by a speed sensor. In case of an automatic transmission, to save fuel. a neutral device of the gear is mounted at an appropriate position according to clutch methods of manufacturing companies as every manufacturing companies have different clutch methods and applies the principle of inertia to the vehicle repeating the neutral state of

the gear and the power transmission to the vehicle body.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Further objects and advantages of the invention can be more fully understood from the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings in which: Fig. 1 is a detailed view of an automatic power transmission and cut-off system according to the present invention; Fig. 2 is a detailed view of the automatic power transmission and cut-off system mounted on a manual vehicle; and Fig. 3 is a detailed view of the automatic power transmission and cut-off system mounted on an automatic vehicle.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT The present invention prevents sudden start accidents in automatic transmission, which are increasing rapidly now. The way is that if an accelerator pedal is not pressed in driving of an engine, power is never transmitted to wheels, and when the pedal is pressed instantaneously and thereby the sudden start is about to occur, the power is not transmitted by only separating a driver's foot from the accelerator pedal. Therefore, there are not dangers of accidents.

In case of a manual transmission, for example, when a speed sensor of a gear covering one to five-stage turns off, the driver connects a clutch to an appropriate speed and presses only a brake and the accelerator pedal in the geared state like an automatic transmission without a gearshift except that the gearshift is not met the speed at all.

For complete stop of the vehicle, when the driver presses the brake at the one

or two-stage, the vehicle stops without stop of the engine. In case of trucks or two- stage vehicles, when the driver presses the accelerator pedal, the vehicles stop. Also, after separating the foot from the accelerator pedal and performing the gearshift. when the driver presses the pedal, gearshift is achieved. It has the same convenience as the automatic vehicle.

In case of the manual vehicle, the mechanical device of the present invention transmits power to the vehicle body and cuts off it by pushing and pulling a clutch fork.

In case of the automatic vehicle, the mechanical device of the present invention transmits power to the vehicle body and cuts off it by repeatedly moving a lever to be in an N (Neutral state) and in a D (Drive state).

Moreover, the mechanical device of the present invention has an excellent fuel saving effect. The result of experiment on fuel consumption, which has been conducted over a period of two years, is shown in the following table.

(Table showing fuel consumption by practical driving-It is made by manual operation) Kind of vehicle POTENTIA 2.0 (Auto) method Traveling by a general Traveling by the driving method mechanical device using the principle of inertial according to the present invention Amount of oil supply 561 561 Vehicle state Air conditioner + two-stage state, nearly 40% of mileage has been used Localdriving 450-470Km 650-670Km Long distance driving 520-55OKm 730-750Km Remarks

* They are numerical value obtained by a manual operation without mounting the mechanical device.

Through the above experiment, it is convinced that if the mechanical device is mounted on the vehicle body, fuel saving effect will be increased up to 50%, or at least to 20%. It is certainly demonstrated through the experiment. However, there will be a little difference between this experimental result and experimental results conducted by other organizations or companies but the difference will not be noticeable.

The fuel saving system according to the present invention will be described hereinafter in more detail referring to the drawings.

Fig. 1 is a detailed view of an automatic power transmission and cut-off system according to the present invention, Fig. 2 is a detailed view of the automatic power transmission and cut-off system mounted on a manual vehicle and Fig. 3 is a detailed view of the automatic power transmission and cut-off system mounted on an automatic vehicle. In the drawings, the reference numeral 1 indicates a quick down switch. 4 indicates a clutch, 5 indicates a clutch fork, 6 indicates a release cylinder, 7 indicates a pedal, 8 indicates a master cylinder and 9 indicates a mechanical device 9.

The quick down switch 1 is connected to the pedal 7 in such a manner that the quick down switch 1 turns on or off when the pedal 7 is pressed or released. The mechanical device 9 is connected to the quick down switch 1. The clutch 4 and the clutch fork 5 are connected between the release cylinder 6 and the mechanical device 9.

The fuel saving system constructed like Fig. 1 is operated as follows. As shown in Fig. 2, in case of the manual vehicle, when the driver pushes the mechanical device 9 and the clutch fork 5 (when the pedal 7 turns on), the master cylinder 8 and the release cylinder 6 are worked, and at the same time, the mechanical device 9 operates the clutch fork 5. By the operation of the clutch fork 5, the clutch 4 transmits the power to the wheels. The mechanical device has a speed sensor within.

The speed sensor senses from a stop to a high-speed of the vehicle, and works the clutch 4 to be in from a quick connection to a slow connection according to the speed if off. At this time, the engine is not stopped whenever the vehicle stops and drives in high speed.

However, if the speed and the gearshift are not corresponded with each other. the engine may be turned off.

In case of the automatic vehicle, as shown in Fig. 3, a portion of the mechanical device 9 is fixed to a wire and the mechanical device 9 is worked according to ON/OFF operation of the quick down switch 1 of an accelerator of the mechanical device.

That is, the neutral state of the gear N (cut-off of the power) and the drive state D (transmission of the power) are repeated, so that the power is transmitted to the vehicle body and cut off it according to the ON/OFF operation of the accelerator pedal 7, thereby performing a maximum of a long distance traveling with the minimum

amount of fuel.

In Fig. 2. the quick down switch 1, which is connected to the pedal 7 to be turned on or off when the pedal 7 is pressed or released, and the mechanical device 9 connected to the quick down switch 1 are connected to the master cylinder 8. The release cylinder 6 is connected to the master cylinder 8 and operated. The release cylinder 6 may be connected to the clutch fork 5 to operate the clutch 4.

An operation state of the present invention will be described in more detail through the following table.
