Abstract:

In an SCTP communication system, which is constituted by a plurality of nodes, when at least one stream is used to establish an association for communication between nodes and when the occurrences of unused and/or surplus streams are detected and further when one of the nodes receives an addition request message describing the number of streams the addition of which has been requested, that node transmits an addition recognition message to each of the other nodes, thereby changing the number of streams used in the association between the nodes. That is, the number of streams used between nodes is dynamically changed without interrupting the communication therebetween, thereby effectively using the number of streams in large-scale communication, whereby the communication rate can be improved.
