Description:
A SEALING MEMBER Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to a sealing member which is integrated onto the fuel tank and enables to hold the cap of the fluid filling chamber. Background of the Invention

In vehicles, there is usually another chamber (fluid chamber) provided next to the fuel tank filling chamber for filling fluids. There is a retaining cable/tie adapted on the said fuel chamber cap to prevent the cap from falling. In addition, the cap of the other chamber located next to the fuel filler tank is either held by the cable/tie mounted on the cap or the cap is fixed on a chamber formed in the vehicle. This prevents the cap from being dropped/lost during filling.

In the cap application used in the state of the art, a slot is provided for securing a retaining pin on the cap to a region close to the cap. However, in the current applications, the cap is mounted to the slots provided on hard plastic or metal areas.

In vehicles, where gasoline-diesel filling openings are capless at the fuel tank cap region, a sealing member, which is provided to protect the gasoline-diesel filling opening against dust, is used. During filling of the fluids which decrease in amount upon use (e.g. UREA fluid), the concerned caps are fixed using a cable/tie as mentioned above or attached to the slots located on the tank cap by means of the pins located on the cap. During filling of the fluids which decrease in amount upon use, if there is no slot provided for attaching or positioning the cap of the fluid filling chamber, the problem of dropping or losing the cap can be experienced.

The United States patent document no. US20130134175, an application in the state of the art, discloses a sealing lid assembly which is connected onto a protrusion provided on the surface of the vehicle by means of fasteners and which makes a circular movement around the point of connection to close the port.

The German patent document no. DE 102014106047, an application in the state of the art, the retaining pin located near the fuel filler cap is connected to the vehicle surface by a cable and is connected to a protrusion provided on the surface of the vehicle.

Problems Solved by the Invention

The objective of the present invention is to provide a sealing member which enables sealing by eliminating the need to use an additional cap for the fuel filler chamber.

Another objective of the invention is to provide a sealing member which enables to hold the fluid filling chamber cap.

Detailed Description of the Invention

A sealing member developed to fulfill the objectives of the present invention is illustrated in the accompanying figures, in which:

Figure 1. is a perspective view of the sealing member.

Figure 2. is a perspective view of one embodiment of the cap holder.

Figure 3. is a perspective view of another embodiment of the cap holder. Figure 4. is a perspective view of another embodiment of the cap holder.

The components shown in the figures are given reference numbers as follows:

1. Sealing member

2. Fuel filling chamber

3. Fluid filling chamber

4. Fuel filling cap

5. Fluid filling cap

6. Cap locating area

7. Locating member

8. Cap holder

9. Chamber sealing cap

A sealing member (1), which is integrated onto the fuel tank filling chamber, essentially comprises

at least one fuel filling chamber (2),

at least one fluid filling chamber (3),

at least one fuel filling cap (4) which covers the top of the fuel filling chamber (2) and the fluid filling chamber (3) upon moving around a hinge,

at least one fluid filling cap (5) which covers the opening of the fluid filling chamber (3) thereby serving as a plug,

at least one cap locating area (6) which is placed on the fuel filling cap (4), at least one locating member (7) which is placed on the cap locating area (6), at least one cap holder (8) which is positioned on the locating member (7) and on which the fluid filling cap (5) can be placed optionally,

at least one chamber sealing cap (9) which is positioned on the locating member (7) and covers the fuel filling chamber (2).

There is provided a fuel filling cap (4), which closes the fuel filling chamber (2) and the fluid filling chamber (3); and the fuel filling cap (4) moves around a hinge mounted on the vehicle enabling the fuel filling chamber (2) and the fluid filling chamber (3) to be opened and closed by the user. A fluid filling cap (5) is provided which closes the opening of the fluid filling chamber (3). The fluid filling cap (5) closes the opening of the fluid filling chamber (3) serving as a plug. The fuel filling cap (4) is in the form of a flat plate that closes the fuel filling chamber (2) and the fluid filling chamber (3), and a cap locating area (6) is placed on the part of the fuel filling cap (4) facing the surface of the fuel filling chamber (2) and the fluid filling chamber (3). The cap locating area (6) is preferably in the form of a hollow cylinder and preferably has threads on its inner or outer cylindrical surface. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, there are lugs on the inner or outer surface of the cylindrical cap locating area (6).

There is a locating member (7) that fits into the lugged structure or threaded structure on the cap locating area (6). The cylindrical surface of the locating member (7), which has a plain cylinder form, preferably has threads thereon, and the said threads help it to fit on the cap locating area (6). The cap holder (8), which also has a cylindrical form, is placed on the cylindrical surface of the cylindrical locating member (7). A part of the fluid filling cap (5) is positioned, preferably in a connected manner, into the cap holder (8). Furthermore, a chamber sealing cap (9) is positioned at the end of the cylindrical locating member (7) and the chamber sealing cap (9) covers the fuel filling chamber (2). In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the chamber sealing cap (9) which is placed on the locating member (7) moves freely and thus, the chamber sealing cap (9) is enabled to fully cover the top of the fuel filling chamber (2). In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the chamber sealing cap (9) is produced from rubber material. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the chamber sealing cap (9); which has a cylindrical plate shape, and is mounted to the locating member (7) by means of a connecting member located around its central axis; has rubber material on the side thereof facing the fuel filling chamber (2) and thus ensures fuel sealing. In the initial position of the sealing member (1) according to the invention; the fuel filling chamber (2) is in closed position by means of the chamber sealing cap (9), which has a rubber surface and thus ensures sealing. At the same time, the fuel filling cap (5) closes the fluid filling chamber (3) thereby preventing foreign matter from entering into the fluid filling chamber (3). A fuel filling cap (4) is provided over the fuel filling cap (5) and the chamber sealing cap (9). When the user desires to refill the fuel, s/he opens the fuel filling cap (4) by turning it around the hinge; and upon opening of the fuel filling cap (4), the chamber sealing cap (9) connected to the fuel filling cap (4) opens causing the fuel filling chamber (2) to open and enables the fuel filling operation. In addition, with the fuel filling cap (4) in the open position, the user reaches the fluid filling cap (5) for the process of fluid filling into the vehicle. A fluid filling cap (5) is removed from the opening of the fluid filling chamber (3) and placed on the cap holder (8) by the user. This prevents the loss of the fluid filling cap (5). In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the cap holder (8) extends from the locating member (7) in the form of a flat plate and a hole is provided thereon. The fluid filling cap (5) is inserted into the said hole.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the chamber sealing cap (9), which gets worn and loses its sealing property due to use, can be easily removed from the cap locating area (6), thereby allowing the replacement of the wom-out chamber sealing cap (9).
