Abstract:
This seat belt retractor is provided with: a spool for winding a seat belt; a lock mechanism having a locking member which normally rotates with the spool and which, when actuated, prevents the spool from rotating in the direction in which the seat belt is pulled out; a motor for providing power for rotating the spool; and a power transmitting mechanism disposed on the same side as the lock mechanism with respect to the spool and transmitting the power of the motor to the spool. The power transmitting mechanism has a clutch disposed on a different shaft from the rotating shaft of the spool. The clutch blocks the transmission of rotational force from the spool to the motor and transmits rotational force from the motor to the spool.
