Abstract:
A vehicle-mounted system (100) is a security system that authenticates a portable unit (102) to determine validity, phase data acquired from range-finding radiowaves being used to determine validity of communication between the portable unit (102) and a vehicle-mounted device (103). The received phase data of the range-finding radiowaves varies according to the distance from a transmission source. When the vehicle-mounted device (103) and the portable unit (102) are fixed and the vehicle-mounted device (103) and the portable unit (102) have transmitted and received range-finding radiowaves having the same characteristic frequency, vehicle acquisition phase data and terminal acquisition phase data are the same. By using bidirectional phase data, the validity of the communication between the vehicle-mounted device (103) and the portable unit (102) can be determined with good precision.
