Abstract:
This semiconductor photoelectrode 100, with which, in an aqueous solution, irradiated light causes a decomposition reaction of the aqueous solution, includes: a semiconductor layer 2 that is formed on an insulative or conductive substrate 1 and that has, on a surface thereof, a plurality of projection structures projecting in an opposite direction to a direction in which the substrate 1 is positioned; a catalytic layer 3 laminated consecutively on the surface of the semiconductor layer 2; and a wire 4 electrically connected to the semiconductor layer 2.
