Title:
SENSOR ELEMENT FOR DETECTING A PHYSICAL MEASURING VARIABLE BETWEEN BODIES EXPOSED TO HIGH TRIBOLOGICAL STRAIN
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2003025407
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
Disclosed are sensor elements (5) for detecting a physical measuring variable such as pressure, temperature, a gap width or capacity between two bodies (10, 20) which move in relation to each other during operation and which are exposed to high tribological strain. A sensitive layer (13,30), especially a sensing web element, is partially disposed between the surfaces of the bodies (10, 20) moving in relation to each other in a region of at least one of said bodies (10), said sensitive layer being separated from the body (10) by an insulating layer (12). In a first embodiment, a covering layer (14) is disposed on said insulating layer. In another embodiment, at least one of the two bodies (10) has a recess (23) in a surface area thereof, said recess accommodating the sensing area (13) on the insulating layer (12). In a third embodiment, the sensing area (13) is 10 mu m - 5 mm long, less than 5 mu m wide and less than 200n, thick.
