A sensor unit (1) that senses the surroundings of a vehicle (2) through exposed surfaces (330) exposed to the surroundings comprises: a sensor system (4) that includes a surroundings sensor (40) having sensing regions that acquire surroundings information configured by means of the exposed surfaces (330); and a housing (3) that partitions off an open space (30) for opening the top of the roof (20) of the vehicle (2) to the surroundings, said open space (30) being separated from an accommodating space that accommodates the surroundings sensor (40). The sensor system includes a front sensor (40a) as the surroundings sensor (40) having a sensing region configured by means of a front exposed surface (330a) as an exposed surface (330) that faces the front of the vehicle (2) in the traveling direction (X). The housing (3) has a front accommodating part (31a) for accommodating the front sensor (40a) and ensuring a front communicating gap (313a) between the roof (20) and the front accommodating part (31a), said gap communicating with the open space (30) from below the front exposed surface (330a) in the yaw axis direction (Z) of the vehicle (2).
