Abstract:
In this shape splitting method, which splits 3D shape data of an eyeglass lens into data pertaining to a plurality of shape element sections used in edging machining, a predetermined circumscribed figure shape (55) that circumscribes the projected shape (54) of the peripheral edge of the eyeglass lens is determined for each predetermined angle while changing the relative angle of the projected shape (54) and the circumscribed figure shape (55), data pertaining to the shape (56) of an inner region in common to all of the determined circumscribed figure shapes (55) are extracted as machining outermost shape data, a difference region between the shape (56) specified by the machining outermost shape data and the projected shape (54) specified by projected shape data is determined, and data pertaining to the shape section of the determined difference region is extracted as piercing machining shape data.
