Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a sheet-material inspection method and sheet-material inspection device that can detect dirt, blemishes, plating problems, attached foreign matter, and the like near the edges of the top surface of a sheet material. In the present invention, the top surface of a sheet material (W) is illuminated with light to be reflected, the bottom surface of said sheet material (W) is illuminated with light that serves as a backlight, and an imaging unit (4) images a region (S) that includes the top surface of the sheet material (W) and areas further outwards than the edges of said sheet material (W). On the basis of that image, the amount of reflected light (12) reflected from the top surface of the sheet material (W) and the amount of backlight light (11) in the areas further outwards than the edges (Wb) of the sheet material (W) are measured, and the amounts of light shined on the sheet material—both the light to be reflected and the light serving as the backlight—are adjusted such that the two measured amounts of light both fall within a single preset range. Then, with said amounts of light adjusted, a region that includes the top surface of the sheet material (W) and areas further outwards than the edges (Wb) of said sheet material (W) is imaged, and defects in the sheet material (W) are detected on the basis of the taken image.
