Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a structure that prevents an upward displacement of the rear part of a steering column (6a) and is effective in protecting the driver despite the development of a secondary collision. [Solution] A capsule (28) is supported by a vehicle-side bracket. The mounting plate (14b) of a housing-side bracket (13) is held between an upper plate unit (29) and a lower plate unit (30) constituting the capsule (28), and can be displaced forward in the course of a secondary collision. The plate units (29, 30) are extended forward to a location where the mounting plate (14b) can be pivoted even when the housing-side bracket (13) is displaced forward in the course of a secondary collision. Alternatively, the vehicle-side bracket can be provided with a suspender arm having a comparable function.
