Abstract:

The present technology relates to a signal processing device and method for limiting an increase in electric power consumption. According to an aspect of the present technology, control data for controlling the frequency modulation of a carrier signal are generated using digital data of an object of transmission, the control data being such that, compared with when the frequency modulation of the carrier signal is controlled using the digital data, the amount of variation in the time average of the amount of frequency modulation can be suppressed; the frequency modulation of the carrier signal is performed on the basis of the generated control data; and the frequency-modulated carrier signal is transmitted as a transmission signal. The present technology can be applied to, for example, a signal processing device, a transmission device, a reception device, a communication device, an electronic device provided with a transmission function, a reception function, or a communication function, or a computer and the like for controlling the above.
