Provided is a simulation system with improved controllability. The simulation system comprises: a display unit that displays an image of an object; an operation terminal that operates a pointer which is displayed on the display unit; a first detection unit that detects the position and posture of the operation terminal; a second detection unit that detects the position of the operation terminal in a coordinate system of the display unit; a third detection unit that detects the position and direction of a user's line of sight; a first vector calculation unit that calculates a sight line vector; a second vector calculation unit that calculates a terminal vector; a position calculation unit that calculates a moving target point of the pointer on the basis of the degree of proximity of the sight line vector and the terminal vector; an output unit that displays the pointer at a current pointer position that is calculated on the basis of the moving target point; and a determination unit that determines whether the pointer and the object are in contact with each other on the basis of the current pointer position and the position of the object, or whether the pointer and the object will come into contact with each other after a certain amount of time has elapsed, such determination made on the basis of the position of the moving target point and the position of the object represented by object data.
