Abstract:
The present invention relates to a skin whitening cosmetic composition, and a pharmaceutical composition for treating or preventing skin pigmentation diseases, containing an arbutin derivative of the following chemical formula (1) as an active ingredient.

According to the present invention, the skin whitening cosmetic composition, and a pharmaceutical composition for treating or preventing skin pigmentation diseases, containing the arbutin derivative as an active ingredient, show remarkable whitening effects through a tyrosinase activity inhibitory effect and a melanin biosynthesis inhibitory effect and have excellent stability, and thus can be applied as a cosmetic material and a pharmaceutical composition.
