Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a sliding seal member that is provided with the characteristics of silicon carbide, which are hardness and low wear, and is provided with suitable sealing and lubricating properties.
[Solution] A sliding seal member that has a sliding face that slides with respect to other members and that seals a fluid via the sliding face is characterized by having carbon fibers with the lengthwise direction of the fibers arranged to be substantially parallel with respect to the sliding face, and silicon carbide that is provided between the plurality of carbon fibers.
