Abstract:
This sodium-sulfur battery is provided with a retention space (100) that retains and solidifies high temperature molten material that flows out of battery cells (4) such that the high temperature molten material does not leak outside of a housing (1) even if an accident in which high temperature molten material arises within the housing occurs. The retention space (100) can be formed outside of the housing (1) or may be formed within the housing (1). The retention space (100) is constituted from a composite member (15) of, for example, a rigid member (11), insulating material (12), and heat resistant material (13).
