Abstract:
This sorting machine is for sorting to-be-sorted items each including an opaque bag and granular bodies housed inside the bag, and comprises: an electromagnetic wave source configured to irradiate a to-be-sorted item with electromagnetic waves; a sensor which is configured to detect electromagnetic waves that have been emitted from the electromagnetic wave source and associated with the to-be-sorted item; a determination unit which is configured to determine a defective product on the basis of characteristics of a bag region that is either a region where granular bodies are not present inside the bag or a region where normal granular bodies are not present inside the bag, in an image based on a signal acquired by the sensor; and a sorting device which is configured to sort out a to-be-sorted item that has been determined to be a defective product.
