Abstract:
A doll (10) supports a sound unit within the doll torso and head and includes a plurality of activation switches in the torso (67) and hand (55) of the doll. The head supports a mouth (21) having a generally centered light-transmissive portion (22) which is aligned with a phototransistor (44) supported within the head. The sound unit employs the phototransistor to provide an output signal indicative of the movement of a user's finger in proximity to the mouth. A sound circuit (40) is operative to play previously stored audio or other sound messages such as singing and speech either normally or in a distorted fashion mimicking a "babbling" sound.
