Abstract:
Provided is a spark-ignition internal combustion engine in which a raised portion (31) comprising an intake-side inclined surface (34) and an exhaust-side inclined surface (35) is provided to the top face (10) of the piston (5), and a cavity (40) is provided on the raised portion (31) in a position that corresponds to the spark plug, wherein the cavity (40) is provided with a bottom surface portion (41) and a cylindrical peripheral portion (42) and is formed such that the ratio of the depth of the cavity (40) to the diameter of the cavity (40) is no higher than 0.3.
