Abstract:
Provided is a technology, wherein corrosion resistance of a spark plug is improved. A spark plug (100) is provided with a metal shell (1) onto the outer surface of which is formed a nickel plating layer, as protection sheathing. The nickel plating layer has atomic concentration of carbon atoms to be within a range of not less than 1.0% and not more than 10.0%, at a depth where atomic concentration of Ni element is 80%, when atomic concentration of the constituent elements thereof is measured in the depth direction with X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).
