Abstract:
A speed control device for a vehicle that travels using an electric motor, which is driven by power from a secondary battery, as a drive source, said device being provided with: a speed detector that detects the speed of the vehicle; a braking device that includes a regenerative braking mechanism of the braking power fluctuates in accordance with an input characteristic of the secondary battery; and a control unit that controls the output of the secondary battery such that the speed of the vehicle is equal to or below a maximum speed determined from the braking power.
