Abstract:
Provided are a splicing device and a splicing method that make it possible to carry out splicing automatically and accurately by inserting two carrier tapes into said device. The present invention comprises: cutting devices (54, 55) that cut the tail end of a first carrier tape (T1) and the leading end of a second carrier tape (T2) at a predetermined cutting position; positioning devices (50, 51, steps S19, S20) that feed the first and second carrier tapes in a direction that brings said carrier tapes into proximity with each other, and position said carrier tapes at a splicing position (LS) at which positioning pins (93, 94) are engaged in feed holes (Hc1, Hc2) of the first and second carrier tapes; and a joining device (58) that, with a splicing tape (30) that has been affixed to a continuous protective tape (31) positioned at the splicing position, bends the protective tape and joins the splicing tape to both sides of the first and second carrier tapes so that said splicing tape extends thereover.
