Abstract:

A stationary constant velocity universal joint (1) is provided with: an outer joint member (2) having formed thereon eight curved track grooves (6) that extend in the axial direction on a spherical inner diameter surface (8); an inner joint member (3) having formed thereon eight curved track grooves (7) that extend in the axial direction on a spherical outer diameter surface (9); eight torque transmission balls (4) that are arranged between the track grooves (6) of the outer joint member (2) and the track grooves (7) of the inner joint member (3) that correspond thereto; and a holder (5) that holds the torque transmission balls (4) in a pocket (5a) and that comprises a spherical outer diameter surface (10) and a spherical inner diameter surface (11) that are fitted to each of the spherical inner diameter surface (8) of the outer joint member (2) and the spherical inner diameter surface (9) of the inner joint member (3). The center of curvature (A) of the track grooves (6) of the outer joint member (2) and the center of curvature (B) of the track grooves (7) of the inner joint member (3) are offset from the joint center (O) by an equivalent distance (f1) on opposite sides in the axial direction. A grease (G) is sealed in the interior of the joint. The stationary constant velocity universal joint (1) is characterized in that: the initial pocket gap (δ) between the pocket (5a) and the torque transmission balls (4) is set to a positive value; and the grease (G) has an initial consistency that is equivalent to consistency number 1 or 2 and a mixing stability of 390-440.
