Abstract:
Provided is a steel material for high heat input welding, which exhibits a yield stress of 460MPa or higher, and which exhibits excellent weld-zone toughness when welded even with a high weld heat input exceeding 300kJ/cm. Specifically provided is a steel material for high heat input welding, which contains by mass C: 0.03 to 0.08%, Si: 0.01 to 0.15%, Mn: 1.8 to 2.6%, P: 0.012% or less, S: 0.0005 to 0.0040%, Al: 0.005 to 0.1%, Nb: 0.003 to 0.03%, Ti: 0.003 to 0.03%, N: 0.0025 to 0.0070%, and B: 0.0003 to 0.0025%, with the carbon equivalent Ceq falling within the range of 0.33 to 0.45, and which, when welded with a high weld heat input exceeding 300kJ/cm, exhibits an island martensite content of 1 vol% or less in the structure of the heat-affected zone in the neighborhood of the bond.
