Abstract:

The upper and lower parts of a wooden girder (1) of lumber, laminated lumber or LVL are stiffened by steel. A steel plate (3) to which a bandlike shear-connecting plate (2) is attached is secured to an upper groove (4) of the upper part with adhesive (5). A deformed bar (6) is secured to a lower groove (7) of the lower part with adhesive (8). The upper and lower parts can be both stiffened by steel plates to which bandlike shear-connecting plates are attached respectively, or by deformed bars.
