Abstract:
An objective of the present invention is to capture a left-eye image and a right-eye image at an appropriate degree of offset. Provided is a digital still camera, comprising two image capture devices which capture a left-eye image and right-eye image, wherein pre-image capture is carried out and the left-eye image and the right-eye image are obtained. A frequency distribution chart of degrees of disparity is generated from the left-eye image data and the right-eye image data which denotes the frequency of the degree of disparity of a stereoscopic image for each pixel thereof. If it is conceivable that a photographic subject is present either closer than a first prescribed distance or further than a second prescribed distance on the basis of the frequency distribution chart of degrees of disparity, an instruction is displayed to move the camera horizontally from the image capture for the first recording and to carry out an image capture for a second recording at the location to which the camera is moved. A horizontal panning image capture is carried out according to the instruction.
