Provided is a technology which performs a notification based on information acquired from a printer while suppressing a delay in the start of printing in an information processing device into which a general-purpose print program of an OS standard is incorporated.　In a case where a print instruction, which allows a general-purpose print program 41 to print an image by means of a printer 2, is output from an edit application 43 by an auxiliary program 42, PC1 acquires printer state information from the printer 2 through communication IF 14 and transfers screen information based on the acquired printer state information to a guide display application 44. The guide display application 44 can operate as a separate process from the edit application 43, and allow a notification screen corresponding to the acquired screen information to be displayed on a user IF 13. In addition, the auxiliary program 42 does not wait for the termination of the display of the notification screen by the guide display application 44, and continues a process of transmitting print data based on the print instruction to the printer 2.
