Abstract:

Disclosed is a method for forming a protective film (2) wherein a coating of Sn or an Sn alloy (formed by electroplating, hot-dipping or the like) on the surface of a metal material such as iron, steel or copper or an Sn-Zn solder particle (1) is surface-treated with a phosphate ester and a silicon-containing compound. Also disclosed are solder material (6) wherein protective films (2) composed of a phosphate ester and a silicon-containing compound are formed on the surfaces of solder particles (1) and a solder paste composed of such a solder material (6) and a flux.
