Description:
SURGICAL BIPOLAR MICRO SCISSORS

Technical Field

This invention relates to surgical bipolar micro scissors through which blunt dissection, sharp dissection and coagulation procedures are concurrently carried out.

Background of the Invention

For surgical operations, bipolar cautery devices and surgical micro scissors are separately used. And during the brain surgical operations, micro scissors and bipolar forceps are used successively according to the adherence properties of the thin cortexes. During the surgical dissection procedures, in case there are less significant vascular structures, they are covered with bipolar forceps and cut with micro scissors. Changing these tools by the surgeon under a microscope extend the operation time and, may result in orientation disorders.

Bipolar scissors used currently in practice are designed for general surgical interventions and, in the form of rough scissors or endoscopic scissors. It is not possible to use them for cranial microsurgery. And micro bipolar scissors used for micro surgery are not preferred in daily practice since it is hard to use them.

Considering the studies and deficiencies in the current technique, a new surgical bipolar micro scissors are needed for routine use in brain surgery and cosmetic surgery operating rooms.

Through this invention, three equipment pieces that carry out three procedures used in micro surgery are assembled forming a single equipment piece. With the bipolar micro scissors, blunt dissection, sharp dissection and coagulation procedures are concurrently carried out, technically facilitating the operation and reducing the complication risk. This invention also facilitates arachnoid dissection procedures in vascular surgery and tumor surgery. And it also reduces the motions of the surgeon to take and give surgical tools under microscope.

The structural and characteristic features and all the advantages of the invention will be more clearly understood due to the figures shown below and, the details referring to these figures and, thus the assessment should be made considering these figures and the details.

Detailed Description of the Invention

The surgical bipolar scissors under the scope of this invention that allow for the concurrent performance of blunt dissection, sharp dissection and coagulation procedures consist of the following parts: body (1 ), polymer coating (2), scissors (3), hinge screw (4), end part (5) and socket (6).

The body (1 ) of the surgical bipolar scissors under the scope of this invention is made of stainless steel, titanium or a metal electrical conductivity suitable for the production of medical devices. There is polymer coating (2) applied on the metal body (1 ) to achieve insulation. Thus, a handle is provided allowing for hand and finger manipulations. In the scissors (3), a ceramic coating or a component made of ceramic is used to achieve cutting mechanism and electrical insulation. The scissors (3) is of a quite thin structure. The hinge screw (4) provides motion and, is made of peek or carbon finer material to prevent the electric current from passing through.

There is no coating on the end part (5) that allows for bipolar coagulation and dissection. The end part (5) has a smooth surface.

The socket (6) holds the body (1 ) together and, is made of a polymer material. It may also be inserted to the bipolar or monopolar cable part.

The surgical tool under the scope of this invention is electrically insulated thoroughly. And the end part (5) of the said invention shows electrical conduction activity. The scissors part (3) does not conduct electric current and cuts it off.

The technical features mentioned in each claim are follows by the reference numbers, which are used only to facilitate the understanding of the claims, therefore it should not be considered that the procedure steps indicated by these reference numbers for the purpose of sampling limit the respective scope.

It is obvious that a person specialized about the technique may reveal the innovation specified in this invention by means of using similar structures and/or implements this structure in other areas with similar purposes used in the respective technique. Therefore, it is also obvious that such structures would lack of innovation and, in particular, the criterion to exceed the known condition of the technique.
