Abstract:
In a synchronous machine startup device, an AC voltage detector (8) detects an AC voltage supplied from a power converter (71) through a power line (LN) to the armature of a synchronous machine (4). The AC voltage detector (8) has a first output end and a second output end insulated from the power line (LN), and transforms, with a first ratio, the AC voltage supplied through the power line (LN) to output the transformed voltage from the first output end. The AC voltage detector (8) also transforms, with a second ratio, the AC voltage supplied through the power line (LN) and limits the transformed voltage to less than or equal to a predetermined positive voltage value and greater than or equal to a predetermined negative voltage value to output from the second output end. A detection voltage selector (51) selects one of a voltage received from the first output end and a voltage received from the second output end and outputs the selected voltage to a rotator position detector (11). The rotator position detector (11) detects the rotator position of the synchronous machine (4) on the basis of the voltage received from the detection voltage selector (51). A power conversion controller (19) controls a power converter (71) on the basis of the detected rotator position.
