Title:
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR REDUCING DIFFERENTIAL MODE DISPERSION EFFECTS IN MULTIMODE OPTICAL FIBER TRANSMISSIONS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2001094999
Kind Code:
A9
Abstract:
A system and method for compensating for unwanted modes in multimode fiber transmissions includes a detector (120) that receives an optical signal (170) transmitted through a multimode optical fiber (110) and converts the transmitted optical signal (170) to a detector signal (180), an adaptive equalizer (150) that generates an adaptive equalizer signal (190) that, when combined with the detector signal (180), compensates for unwanted modes in the detector signal (180), and an adder (130) that combines the adaptive equalizer signal (190) with the detector signal (180).
