Abstract:
This system for treating a waste lithium ion battery is for recovering lithium from a waste lithium ion battery through the elution of lithium by immersing, in water, a calcinated product that can be obtained by calcinating a waste lithium ion battery containing phosphorus as a positive electrode active material. The system comprises: a mixing device for mixing an alkali metal salt other than lithium with a positive electrode active material contained in a waste lithium ion battery; and a calcinating device for calcinating, at a predetermined first temperature, the mixture obtained by the mixing device at a predetermined first temperature, wherein the mixing device is configured such that an alkali metal salt is ground and kneaded into the positive electrode active material.
