Abstract:

Provided is a design standard for a tapered roller bearing that can be put into practical use and is of an outer ring flange type, the tapered roller bearing having a sufficient moment load and bearing lifespan without a great reduction in the load capacity of pure axial loading, and moreover without there being any concerns of a decrease in the strength of an outer ring flange part.　Provided is a tapered roller bearing 11 comprising an outer ring 12 that has an outer ring raceway surface 12a on the inner peripheral surface thereof, an inner ring 13 that has an inner ring raceway surface 13a on the outer peripheral surface thereof, a plurality of tapered rollers 14 that are rollably disposed between the outer ring raceway surface 12a and the inner ring raceway surface 13a, and a holder 15 that has a plurality of pockets which accommodate and hold the plurality of tapered rollers 14 at prescribed intervals, a flange part 12b projecting inward in the radial direction being formed at a large diameter side end of the outer ring raceway surface 12a of the outer ring 12, among the four ends of a small diameter side end and the large diameter side end of the outer ring raceway surface 12a of the outer ring 12 and a small diameter side end and a large diameter side end of the inner ring raceway surface 13a of the inner ring 13, wherein a contact angle is 40-50° and the relationship between the thickness E and the roller large diameter-side diameter DW of the outer ring flange satisfies 0.19 < E/Dw < 0.44.
