Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a target measurement device and target measurement method that make it possible to accurately estimate the size and/or weight of a target. [Solution] A target measurement device 1 comprises: a transmission and reception device 10 for transmitting transmission waves into the water and receiving reflected waves resulting from the reflection of the transmission waves; a target echo signal extraction unit 32 for extracting, from a reception signal for the reflected waves, an echo signal from a target; a peak detection unit 33 for detecting each of a plurality of peaks included in the echo signal; an intensity difference calculation unit 35 for calculating the intensity difference between the intensity of a first peak from among the plurality of peaks and the intensity of a second peak different from the first peak; and a target measurement unit 37 for acquiring data relating to the size and/or weight of the target on the basis of the intensity difference.
