Abstract:
This thermal transfer recording medium is such that, when an external force is applied in a direction such that a base layer and a second ink layer separate from each other in a first state in which the heat transfer recording medium has been heated to a temperature between a first temperature and a second temperature and then cooled to a third temperature, a break is created between a first ink layer and the base layer or within the first ink layer, and when the external force is applied in a second state in which the thermal transfer recording medium has been heated to a temperature exceeding the second temperature and then cooled to the third temperature, a break is created between the first ink layer and the second ink layer or within the second ink layer. The total thickness of all layers separated away from the base layer when the break occurs in the second state is greater than that of any of the layers prior to thermal transfer in the remaining portion which has not separated from the base layer, excluding the base layer.
