Title:
THERMALLY ASSISTED MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM AND MAGNETIC RECORDING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/027880
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Disclosed is a thermally assisted magnetic recording medium having a surface recording density of not less than 1 Tbit/inch2, wherein a magnetic layer can be heated to a temperature not less than 200°C even with weak heating power and the cooling rate after the heating is sufficiently high. Specifically disclosed is a thermally assisted magnetic recording medium, wherein a magnetic layer (108) that is mainly composed of an FePt alloy or CoPt alloy having an L10 structure is formed on a substrate (101) with a base layer interposed therebetween, and the magnetic layer (108) is formed on a multilayer film (107) in which compression stress introduction layers (103a, 104a, 105a, 106a) that have a BCC structure and are formed from a metal or alloy having a lattice constant of not more than 2.97 Å and a plurality of MgO layers (103b, 104b, 105b, 106b) are alternately arranged.
