Abstract:
Provided is a torque converter with which the responsiveness of a lockup device can be improved at the time of lockup. This torque converter (1) is equipped with a front cover (31), a torque converter body (3), and a lockup device (5). Torque from an engine is input to the front cover (31). The torque converter body (3) is disposed on the front cover (31). The lockup device (5) is arranged between the front cover (31) and the torque converter body (3) in the axial direction. In this torque converter (1), a second flow channel (R2) for oil, which is provided between the front cover (31) and the lockup device (5) at the outer side in the diametrical direction, has a cross sectional area that is smaller at the torque converter body (3) side than at the engine side.
