Abstract:
A system, which is provided to a base station placed on the side of a road, and monitors a traffic situation on the basis of a communication signal transmitted from a mobile terminal of each of multiple vehicles traveling on the road, comprises: a reception unit which receives the communication signal transmitted from the mobile terminal of each vehicle and outputs the received signal; a speed/direction estimation unit which estimates the movement speed and movement direction of each vehicle on the basis of the received signal; and a traffic situation analysis unit which, for each movement direction, determines an effective movement speed of each vehicle, obtains an average movement speed of a vehicle group for each movement direction, and analyses a traffic situation for each movement direction on the basis of the average movement speed of the vehicle group for each movement direction.
