The exercise equipment according to claim 4, characterized in that the cuff (10) has a preferably elastic piece of material (14) spanning said dividing line (11) , which piece of material allows spreading out of the cuff (10) when applying or removing the cuff from the upper arm when the flap has been disengaged (12) .

Description:
TRAINING EQUIPMENT FOR THE MUSCLES OF THE HUMAN TORSO

Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to an exercise equipment for humans, primarily intended for activation of the muscles of the trunk, abdomen, back, shoulders and other muscles in the upper part of the body.

Background

Many people who really do need to exercise their musculature and to reduce their fat above all around the trunk and

abdomen, hesitate about going to public gyms. There may be many reasons for this and the result is that those who really need to exercise do not.

Today, there are a lot of equipment for exercising muscles in the form of more or less sophisticated equipment, fitness machines, etc., which function well for those who are already initiated. One problem is that these machines and equipment demand substantial space when used and/or during storage, they are relatively expensive and it can also take some time to get used to them. The Invention

The object of the present invention is to provide an exercise equipment which is easy to use, which does not demand

specially adapted spaces for exercising or storage, and only making use of the muscles of the body to provide

resistance/load.

The above and further objects of the invention are achieved with the exercise equipment according to the present invention having the features defined in claim 1. With this unsophisticated exercise equipment a person performing uncomplicated twisting movements can exercise the muscles of the trunk, abdomen, back, shoulders and other muscles in the upper part of the body by alternately pushing one arm forward, while at the same time the resistance is adjusted with the opposite arm. At the same time many other of the muscles of the upper body and arms are exercised. The equipment can also be used with a minimum of load for

limbering up the body and thereby prevent back problems and so on.

Further development and preferred embodiments of the invention is specified in the claim.

Short description of the Drawing

Further objects, features and advantages of the invention will be apparent from the following detailed description of the embodiments of the invention shown in the drawing, in which

Fig. 1 shows a schematic view of the exercise equipment according to the invention, and

Fig. 2 shows an example of use of the exercise equipment according to the invention.

Detailed description of the Invention

In Fig. 1 is schematically shown part of the exercise

equipment according to the invention consisting of two parts, but because they preferably are exactly the same only one is shown. Equipment 1 consists of a handle 2 with fastening means 3 arranged thereon. The fastening means are designed for fastening of the handle on an upper arm, as is shown

schematically in Fig. 5. According to the embodiment of the invention shown in Fig. 1 the handle is comprised of a yoke 2, which is attached to a plate 4. The fastening means comprise one or several band formed means 5, possibly with a plate 6, connected to the handle plate. When the equipment is to be used the respective arm is introduced through the fastening means and the

equipment is placed on an upper arm. The opposite hand grips the respective handle .

According to an alternative embodiment, which is shown in Fig. 2, a fastening means may consist of a band 7 with handles 8, 9 mounted laterally in respect of the longitudinal direction of the band at the ends of the band. When the equipment is to be used the band is placed around the upper arm and both handles are gripped with the hand on the opposite arm. With a

correctly adapted length of the band, the equipment will be safely placed around the upper arm.

According to a further alternative embodiment of the

invention, which is shown in Fig. 3, the fastening means are comprised of a cuff 10 to be placed around the upper arm. The cuff can thereby be divided along a dividing line 11 and have a flap 12, with which the dividing edges of the cuff can be locked together for the formation of a sleeve. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention the flap and the cuff have a hook and loop fastener, which is shown at 13. According to an alternative embodiment shown in Fig. 4 the divisible cuff has a piece of material 14 which spans the dividing line, which material can be elastic. With this design the cuff has to be threaded onto the upper arm, whereupon it is tightened with the flap, which is locked via the hook and loop connection 13. An advantage with this embodiment is that the risk for injury because of squeezing when the cuff is attached onto the upper arm is minimized and this material will also lie as a protection in the dividing area, where the edges of the cuff meet. The material of the cuff can be a woven material, consisting of natural fibres, synthetic fibres or a combination thereof or a homogenous material. The material shall be substantially non-stretchable, and can be provided with an upholstery on the inside . As is suggested in Fig. 5 the exercise equipment according to the invention is primarily intended to be placed on the upper arms 15, 16 of a user. The handles are gripped by the user, whereupon twisting motions are performed while at the same time the user alternately can pull in and push out the

handles, respectively. The twisting motions are shown with arrows A and B in Fig. 5. This exercise leads to an increased fat burn especially around the trunk and the abdomen. Also the muscles in the back, the shoulders and other muscles in the upper part of the body are activated. By making resistance with one of the arms when the other pushes and vice versa the load can be increased and thereby the muscles in the upper part of the body can be exercised in a lenient but at the same time efficient way.
