Abstract:
The target gear ratio for a vehicle is set to vary linearly with the degree of opening of the accelerator and the speed of the vehicle. When this target gear ratio reaches a downshift-side shift point (Gdown), a downshift is effected; and when the target gear ratio reaches a shift point (Gup), an upshift is effected. On the basis of both the target gear ratio change rate (Vgr), which is the rate of change in the target gear ratio, and the pre-servo-startup time, the timing at which the current target gear ratio reaches each shift point (Gdown, Gup) is estimated and pre-servo-startup is initiated the pre-servo-startup time before the timing at which the next shift point is estimated to be reached. As a result, when the target gear ratio reaches each shift point (Gup, Gdown), the oil pressure supplied to the hydraulic servo for the necessary clutch can be immediately increased by sweep apply control to engage the clutch.
