Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to transmit ultrahigh-resolution image data at a high frame rate in such a manner that backward compatibility can be successfully achieved at the receiving side. Basic-format image data for obtaining a high-resolution image at a basic frame rate by processing ultrahigh-resolution image data at a high frame rate, first extended-format image data for obtaining an ultrahigh-resolution image at the basic frame rate, and second extended-format image data for obtaining an ultrahigh-resolution image at the high frame rate are obtained. A basic video stream that includes encoded image data of the basic-format image data and two or one extended video stream that includes encoded image data of the first extended-format image data and encoded image data of the second extended-format image data are generated. Content of a predetermined format that includes the basic stream and the extended video stream is transmitted.
