Abstract:

　A transmission method includes: a dividing step for dividing a picture into a plurality of regions; an encoding step for generating encoded data corresponding to each of the plurality of regions by encoding each of the plurality of regions so as to be independently decodable; a packetizing step for storing a plurality of generated encoded data in a plurality of packets; and a transmission step for transmitting the plurality of packets. In the packetizing step, the plurality of encoded data is stored in the plurality of packets so that any one of the packets does not contain the encoded data corresponding to a different region. Throughput pertaining to the generation of data to be decoded is thereby reduced.
