Abstract:
This transmission path length detection device (3) is configured to comprise: a first capacitance calculation unit (21) which carries out observations of voltage changes in a transmission path (2) in a communication network, and, on the basis of such voltage changes, calculates a total capacitance that represents an overall capacitance of said transmission path (2); a second capacitance calculation unit (22) which makes a measurement of characteristic impedance of the transmission path (2) and then calculates a capacitance per unit length of the transmission path (2) from said characteristic impedance; and an electrical length calculation unit (23) which calculates an electrical length of the transmission path (2) by dividing a total capacitance calculated by the first capacitance calculation unit (21) by a capacitance per unit length calculated by the second capacitance calculation unit (22).
