Title:
TRANSMISSIVE LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2007/004399
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is a transmissive liquid crystal display device, which has a high contrast ratio over a wide operation range in IPS mode and displays an excellent image even when viewed from a diagonal direction. In the transmissive liquid crystal display device, the both sides of a liquid crystal cell driven in IPS mode are provided with a retardation film (3), having an Nz3 value of 0 to 0.35 and an in-plane phase difference of 60 to 450nm, and a retardation film (4), having an Nz4 value of 0.8 to 1.2 and an in-plane phase difference of 60-450nm, respectively. On at least one plane, which is of a polarizing plate stacked on the retardation film and on the side of the liquid crystal cell, a transparent protection film (1-2) having an in-plane phase difference of 0 to 5nm and a phase difference of -20 to 20nm in the thickness direction is arranged.
